Your brain is remarkable at making sense of the world around you at lightning speed, however, it often relies on memory to accomplish this feat. In order to ensure we aren't constantly confused by visual inconsistencies or the mass of stimuli we're exposed to every day, it recalls moments from our past to help us understand everything we see. Today, we’re going to make some of these processes more apparent with some fun/confusing visual illusions. Ready your eyes, friends, they’re about to receive quite the workout.
The Fact
One of the oldest illusions of all time was described by Aristotle over 2,000 years ago and you can still do it yourself! Cross two adjacent fingers and then touch an object – like a spoon or something – and this’ll create the illusion that you’re touching two objects instead of one!
