Jane Austen was incredibly proud of her novels and often referred to them as her children. She once described "Pride and Prejudice" as her “darling child” and when speaking of "Sense and Sensibility," in a letter to her sisters wrote, “I am never too busy to think of S & S. I can no more forget it than a mother can forget her sucking child.”
