The Fact
The recorded history of navigation dates back to around 3500 B.C., when boats large enough to carry goods were first recorded. They weren’t all that elaborate and those aboard had to ensure that they stayed close to shore, using land characteristics or distant monuments as navigational tools. Still impressive, though.
